This personal project started as a technical test, aimed at exploring Houdini’s terrain generation (Heightfields) and texturing capabilities using the COPs (Copernicus) system.
What began as a simple scene quickly evolved into a cinematic volcanic landscape — combining procedural terrain, volumetrics, and instanced vegetation into one cohesive composition.
Key features include:
Procedural terrain built with Heightfields
Texturing and color control via COPs
Volumetric smoke and fog simulation
Instanced tree scattering with custom masks
Rendered with Redshift
The volcano theme was unplanned — but turned out to be the perfect playground to test multiple systems at once.
